Saint Junípero Serra was a Franciscan missionary who founded nine of the 21 Spanish missions in California, earning him the title "Father of California." His tireless work evangelizing and serving the indigenous peoples of California left a lasting legacy of faith across our state.
Canonized by Pope Francis in 2015, Saint Junípero Serra's feast day is celebrated on July 1. His example of missionary zeal and dedication to spreading the Gospel inspires our work in fostering vocations today.
